I have just done this small painting of a game of cricket from my trip to Winchester a couple of weeks ago.
As a keen sportsman when I was at school, I am very interested in how to convey the competitiveness, movement and general atmosphere of sporting events in a “painterly” fashion.
If anyone has any good examples of sport in art perhaps they could post the link.

Thanks Leslie – that is really helpful and I will now push the right button in future.
I had another look at your blog – your figure work is particularly strong. I also really like your use of colour in the chimp painting. Kind regards. Iain
Great post!
Whoops! I mean Hi Lain on the above comment……….sorry about that!
Hi Andrew,
I’ve had my problems learning things on this blog, also. After you upload your image, wordpress gives you a view of it on a frame that gives you the choice to insert your image as small, medium, or large. I click medium and leave it there. Above that it says None File URL Post URL. put your arrow over File URL and click before you hit insert to post. Your image should then enlarge when someone clicks on it. All posts after that should load the same way if you just leave it on medium and File URL. I noticed that I could view your paintings larger on your website, also. Nice work. Thank-you for visiting my blog. Let me know if you have problems with the enlarging thing. I actually had to hire a tutor to learn how to do this.
Many thanks for your comments Leslie. I am a bit new to all of this but now I look at your blog (and I like your paintings) I see that I must be doing something wrong in terms of the upload. I will try to correct and re-post.
I love your oil paintings. Would like you to insert them in your posts so I could click on them and enlarge them. I, too, like the paintings of the cows.
Impressive
